A ticking clock defines my movements in the dreams. Controlled by the timekeeper that has me captive in a world that neglects who I really am. But I don’t even know it until I rebel against him. I fell sheer into his grasp, and he won’t let me go. Now I'm fighting for the real me, and my one true love, while I watch reality come to an end. But reality mirrors the dreams, so if he kills me here, I can never get home. I live in a place where evil and good are undefined, and a moment of silence won’t exist until the King sets us free. He won’t do that willingly, so I will fight for my freedom.

What a great start for a first time novelist! The premise, while it is slightly reminiscent of "The Hunger Games", truly had me hooked from the first page. I loved the juxtaposition of real and fantasy which left me questioning my choice of the "real" world. The writing was fresh and engaging, the major characters were well developed, and the poetry at the beginning of the chapters was AWESOME. I definitely want more. How about a prequel that delves into how the kingdom was established and where the power came from? Better yet, how about a book of poetry? The poems in this volume are worth the price of the book alone! It's like getting two books in one!!Product details

I'm a Dreamer Jenny Lake 9781492125686 Books Reviews
The author is a friend of mine, who I often spend mornings with before school. She's read me poems from this book which I found wonderful and entrancing. She also likes rain boots so you know she's pretty cool.
Jenny takes a lot of inspiration from Robert Frost, whose poems I enjoy. (I told her that I prefer Maya Angelou.) At any rate, this book has wonderful poems.
